Job Summary:
The Body Technician at Toyota Valencia is responsible for performing high-quality body repairs on damaged vehicles. This includes assessing the damage, restoring vehicle frames, and repairing or replacing body parts to restore the vehicle to its original condition. The ideal candidate is an NC I holder in automotive, preferably with experience in automotive body repairs, and is detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect vehicles to assess the extent of damage, including dents, scratches, and structural issues.
- Determine the necessary repairs and materials required to restore the vehicle’s body to its original shape and appearance.
- Provide accurate estimates for repair time and costs when required.
- Perform body repairs, including dent removal, panel beating, welding, and other structural repairs.
- Straighten and realign frames and chassis using specialized equipment.
- Replace or repair damaged body panels, fenders, and other components using appropriate techniques and tools.
- Sand, grind, and smooth surfaces to prepare for painting and finishing.
- Replace damaged body parts with OEM or approved aftermarket parts, ensuring a perfect fit and alignment.
- Reinstall trim, moldings, bumpers, and other components after repair or replacement.
- Ensure that all body parts align properly and match the original factory specifications.
- Ensure all repairs meet Toyota’s high standards for quality and safety.
- Perform final inspections to ensure that repaired vehicles are in excellent working condition and have no visible signs of damage or defects.
- Collaborate with the painting department to ensure that repaired surfaces are ready for paint application and finishing.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with hazardous materials or equipment.
- Adhere to Toyota’s safety standards and best practices for automotive body repair.
- Dispose of waste materials, such as damaged parts or hazardous substances, in line with environmental regulations.
- Work closely with service advisors to understand customer concerns and explain the repair process when necessary.
- Provide timely updates on the repair status of customer vehicles, ensuring excellent communication throughout the process.
- Deliver repaired vehicles in a condition that exceeds customer expectations for appearance and functionality.
- Keep detailed records of all body repairs performed, including parts used, labor hours, and any additional services provided.
- Document any issues found during repair that may require further attention, such as hidden structural damage.
